THIS Sunday, November 27 | 6:00 p.m. | Sanctuary
On Sunday, November 27, you are invited to join us for a very special time of worship during this year’s Service of Remembrance and Hope. This service is especially helpful as the holidays arrive for individuals who have experienced the death of a loved one this year or in years past. Remembrance candles are provided for participants to light as the names of loved ones are read aloud during the service.
The Service of Remembrance and Hope begins at 6:00 p.m. As always, members and friends of First Baptist Nashville are invited to support those who are grieving by attending this service even if you are not remembering someone this year. Together, we will hold tightly to the hope that is ours in Christ and reaffirm our belief in the resurrection.

“One Person, One Warm Coat”
First Baptist Nashville is pleased to participate in Project Coat Connect. Fellowship Hall serves as the drop-off location for coats on Sunday afternoons from 1 – 3 p.m. Coats are then taken to permanent storage on Mondays. Help us collect warm, new or gently used winter coats through December 4. To volunteer at First Baptist Nashville, contact Rus Roach at 664.6021 or rus.roach@firstbaptistnashville.org.
Coat Collection
Congregations, businesses, student groups, other organizations, and individuals are invited to participate in Project Coat Connect to collect warm, new or gently used winter coats through December 4.
Coat Giveaway
Homeless individuals can pick up one warm coat at The Bridge Ministry (under Jefferson Street Bridge on Second Avenue North) on Tuesday, December 6, services at 6 p.m.
For additional information, contact our Project Coat Connect chair, Allison Steel, at ProjectCoatConnect@gmail.com or 545.9110.
Friday, December 2 | 7 p.m.
The parade begins at 7 p.m., but volunteers at First Baptist Nashville are working the crowd well before that. For the last few years, we have distributed hot cocoa with our “jet-packs” and offered our patio with music, fires and food. We share the love of Jesus with anyone who will listen.
Our float is complete with sound and lights and is accompanied by 20 folks in biblical costumes giving out CDs of our Sanctuary Choir singing and Pastor Frank telling the Good News of Jesus. It is a great witness for our church to be a part of this big civic event. Our float is pure Christ in Christmas.
If you like this idea and would like to be a part of the chorus or the walkers, or maybe a worker helping prepare the float, contact Sam Sanders at 664.6051.
Friday, December 2 | 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.

“Awake sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you. Therefore, be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil.”
– Ephesians 5:14-16 (NASB)

Our Arts Service Group is now sponsoring a weekly Open-Studio. We invite professional or experienced artists and art students to hone their skills with “real people” as models, initially residents of Room In The Inn. We will continue with models from other ministries, businesses, condos, etc: simply “real” people from our “neighborhood” needing to be seen and touched in creative ways by the body of Christ. Come meet every Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a break for our ongoing Business Lunch.
If you have any questions or interest, please contact Kenna Eaton at kennae@comcast.net, 483.2597.
It’s time to pull together and serve our homeless community. On Sunday evenings from November through March we will host 28 men and women in our Recreation Center from 6 p.m. – 6 a.m. We will provide dinner, breakfast, and a sack lunch. Volunteers staff this ministry—primarily our Sunday School classes and departments.
In addition to opportunities to serve through your class or department, individual volunteers are needed to help occasionally assist classes with set-up, meals, overnight “inn-keeping,” and laundry. This is a wonderful opportunity for families and individuals to donate part of an evening in ministry.
Children and youth are welcome and have helped frequently. Room In The Inn is a mission effort directed to those literally at our doorstep. Hebrews 13:2 reminds us to show hospitality to strangers and that by doing so, some have entertained angels. Come join! You might meet an angel!
There are 20 Sunday nights that we serve our guests. Please notify Rus Roach with which nights your group can help. A full list of responsibilities is available in the Main Office or by clicking here. Call soon to reserve your dates!
