Aloha! First Baptist invites all children ages 4 (as of October 1, 2007) through grade 6 to join us for lots of excitement and a great adventure. Wax your surfboard and hit the waves as you learn about God's unshakeable truth! Outrigger Island is a unique experience that will challenge our wave riders (a.k.a. kids) and teach them how to live God's truth in the shifting sands of their daily lives. Bible stories, music, crafts, recreation, and snacks are all combined to provide kids with an adventure-filled week designed especially for them. Along the way, wave riders will be equipped to navigate the world with the stabilizing truths that God is real, Jesus is His son, Jesus is the only way to receive salvation, the Bible is God's word, and, ultimately, that their actions show what they truly believe.
We are happy to offer this remarkable adventure to our children and their friends.
We have trained an excellent group of Island Guides (teachers, that is!) for
the big game. Each day the wave riders will begin to gather in our church foyer
at 8:45am before going to the Worship Rally Lagoon at 9:00am. This will be a
time of singing, mission stories, drama video and giving of an offering. For
extra fun, there will be a special daily emphasis.
MONDAY - Aloha Day (You will be given a lei to wear for the day!)
TUESDAY - "Aikane ('eye-ka-nay') Day" (Bring a friend!)
WEDNESDAY - Outrigger Island Shirt Day (Wear the tie-dye shirt you got this week!)
THURSDAY - Hat Day (Wear your favorite hat or cap!)
FRIDAY - "Too Hot for the Tropics" Day (Wear bright colors!)
Each day will conclude at noon in your child's Bible Study Beach Hut. This will conclude the day for some wave riders, and parents will need to pick up their wave riders from their Bible Study Beach Hut (your child's Bible study class).
There is still more fun planned with VBS Plus, which begins at noon Monday - Friday with lunch brought from home. After lunch we will gather at the Recreation Center to begin our sports activities with the Infinity Sports team. Infinity Sports operates in a covenant relationship with Great Commission Christian organizations to mobilize Christian sports resources, Christian sportsmen and sportswomen, into closed and restricted access locations for the purpose of evangelism and church planting among Unreached People Groups and Major Gateway Cities. The cost will be $60 per child ($30 each additional child, same family). This includes 5 days of sports classes, t-shirt, group picture and snack.
Your child will choose 2 sports activities for the week: Basketball, Wild & Crazy Games, Soccer, Multi-Sports, Flag, Football, Volleyball
Children will be grouped according to age: 1st-3rd graders together and 4th-6th graders together. Preschool 4s and 5s will also meet for VBS Plus (teachers will plan their schedule) in the afternoons in rooms 355 and 356, at a cost of $25.00 per child.
The first 25 families to register will receive a free CD of this year's VBS music. Pre-registration cards will be available outside the Children's Ministry. Look for pre-registration tables on Sundays (in the foyer) and Wednesdays (outside Fellowship Hall). Pre-registration can also be done online by clicking the link below.
On Wednesday night, June 25, parents can come back with their athlete and share the adventure with us at VBS Family Night! Dinner will be served at 5:00pm and our Outrigger Island program will follow at 6:10pm in the Sanctuary. After the program, parents are invited to come and visit their children's rooms.
