During our January Business Meeting, First Baptist Nashville members heard a motion from our Deacon Body recommending the adoption of a Campus Master Plan to serve as a guide for the future development of our church campus. This motion followed a two-month communication blitz where members of our Adult Sunday School Classes met with me to take a more detailed look at the hopes and dreams of how our ministries could be strengthened with new and updated facilities. These “dream sessions” are continuing over the next several weeks as we seek to share the details with our membership so that you will be fully informed before a vote is taken.
You will receive an informational brochure in the mail in the coming days showing what our campus could look like if the plan is adopted. What excites me most about the Master Plan is the emphasis it places on making First Baptist Nashville more accessible to people. It creates an inviting atmosphere for people who have never been here and it is designed to facilitate those things that we embrace as a church: reaching and serving a diverse community from a sacred place where our faith is nurtured and passed on from one generation to another.
During the month of February, I hope you will join us on Wednesday nights for a time of prayer and to practice discernment as we talk more about the campus recommendations during the 6:10 p.m. Mid-week Prayer Service. On Sunday, February 26, during the morning worship service, First Baptist Nashville will act on the motion to accept the Master Plan in a Called Business Session.
Until then please know that I am eager and willing to answer any questions you may have related to the recommendation. Our ministers are united in our support of this plan and we are excited about the possibilities of our future as we continue to Love God and Love People from this corner!
Blessings!
