Crow's Corner (June 2011)

by Tom Crow, executive pastor

Vision is such a great word. It describes the future, opportunity, hope and dreams. It is a word you will hear often in and around First Baptist Nashville this year, I expect, as we look forward to the future of our church, especially in regard to the proposed Master Plan for our campus, developed by the HH Architects team. Watch for the next opportunities to learn, attend, engage and participate in conversations about First Baptist Nashville’s vision.

Mountain Movers Men’s Ministry

Take a look ... these facts illustrate why our men’s ministry is so important!

  • “There were 12.9 million single-parent homes in the US in 2006. The father was absent from 10.4 million of these households.” (US Census)
  • “Researching biographies of leading atheists from the past three centuries, Paul C. Vitz, a former atheist and professor at New York University, discovered that practically all of their fathers were either abusive, distant, or absent.” (Focus on the Family)
  • “According to statistics, when fathers are the first in their homes to become Christians, there is a 93% probability that their families will follow. If the mother becomes a Christian first, this chance plummets to 17%. If a child becomes a Christian first, it falls to 3.5%.” (Focus on the Family)
  • “In 2003, 68 million of the 94 million men in the US did not attend church.” (Focus on the Family)

We are building men who will be strong in their faith, make a difference in our community, help others, and be strong spiritual leaders in their family and community through participation in Mountain Movers. Be involved!

In our Support Staff team, we welcome Marissa Moore as our Assistant to Children and Student Ministries. Marissa and her husband Jeremy are active members of First Baptist Nashville. Marissa was baptized at First Baptist Nashville as a child, and was married here—you may know Marissa as the daughter of Tim and Sandra Gentry. You may contact Marissa at 664.6023 or marissa.moore@firstbaptistnashville.org.

We also send off Lele Griesheimer, who has served well for nearly three years in the same capacity and has moved to Alabama. Blessings to Lele!

Summer Outreach

New_Neighbor_Packet.png

Watch for moving trucks and newcomers in your neighborhood! Help us welcome newcomers with a welcome packet from your church, a good warm greeting from you, an invitation to attend Bible study and worship with you at First Baptist Nashville, and perhaps a homemade cake or pie! Find welcome packets in the Foyer near the Sanctuary entrance. Make a difference—encourage someone toward Jesus Christ.
