Families are important. The Southern Baptist Convention recognizes this fact and that’s why May is “Family Month.” We celebrate Mother’s Day on May 8 and Children’s Day on May 15, with Father’s Day following in June. Because families are important—not just in May or June, but all year—our church chose several years ago to create a Family Enrichment Committee. The church has given them this task: “To enrich the church’s ministry to families, focusing on couples who are planning for children and families with children from birth through age eighteen.” The current committee members are Hope Chaney, Lanell Coile, Amy Dixon, James Hargrave (chair), Shannon Meadors (staff), Marianne Meriwether, Chris O’Rear, and Sharon Roberts.
The members of the Family Enrichment Committee represent all kinds of families and are seeking ways to improve and enhance First Baptist Nashville’s support and ministry to families. During May, parents and other interested people are being invited to participate in a survey to help the committee know more about the wants and needs of families in our church. All answers will be kept confidential.
On May 8, 15, and 22, copies of a survey form will be available in targeted Sunday School departments, in the Preschool Suite, at the Children’s Sunday School Greeter Desk, and in the foyer after worship. In addition, an electronic version of the form may be completed below, during May.
Our church and committee are praying for your family because family is important. We’d love to hear from you.
