It is again time to begin the prayerful process of nominating and electing new deacons to join those already faithfully serving at First Baptist Nashville.
Each year we try to make it convenient for you to nominate up to fifteen members you believe should serve as deacons. We will provide a list of all church members who are 21 years of age or older who have been members for the last twelve consecutive months, are not ministerial staff members or active deacons, and have not requested their name be excluded from nomination at this time. The committee will further screen nominees using the Qualifications of a Deacon document printed on the back of the nominating form and posted on the website.
If you have questions, contact a member of the Deacon Nominee Selection Committee: Harold Bergen, Louis Boyte, James Kennon, David Meriwether, Henrietta Powell, Jim Shull, Pamela Sloan, or Kelly Moreland-Jones. We encourage you to give this important process your prayerful attention.
- August 22: Official "Opening Day" of the nomination process. We will have nomination information and ballots in strategic locations of our buildings. If you have an email address on file in the church office, you will receive an email with instructions on how to nominate deacons online.
- September 12: Nominating process ends at 10:30 a.m.
- October 7: We will publish names, a biographical sketch and pictures of the deacon nominees in the Evangel.
- October 10, 13: Absentee balloting will be available in the Pastor's Office.
- October 17: Deacon Election will be during the morning worship service.
- November 7: Deacon Ordination Council and Ordination will be followed by Deacon Recognition worship service.
