The summer holds a variety of opportunities to volunteer with Building Bridges. Take a look at the many ways to share Christ in Nashville this summer.
Contact Scott Allen at scott.allen@firstbaptistnashille.org for more information or come by the Building Bridges Booth in the foyer each Sunday in July. Come and serve. Go and share Christ.
Movies in the Park - FBC is a co-sponsor of Movies in the Park with the Nashville Scene. Come to Centennial Park on Wednesday evening and volunteer at the FBC Booth. We will give away gospel discs as well as information about upcoming ministry opportunities. Movies in the Park are on Wednesday evenings throughout the summer.
Freedom's Story - Once again we will serve on the streets of downtown Nashville on the Fourth of July. Volunteer to be a part of a street team or hospitality team. Volunteers will greet people along Second Avenue, Broadway and Riverfront Park. The outreach begins at 4:30 P.M. In addition to the downtown initiatives, consider serving at a Block Party in East Nashville with the Front Porch. Volunteers will cook and serve neighborhood children and families and then take in the fireworks from the Front Porch. The cookout begins at 6:30 P.M.
Front Porch - The ministry in East Nashville serves inner city children and families at risk. "At risk" of believing there is no hope things will ever be any better. "At risk" of not believing they are worthwhile and loveable. "At risk" of becoming a statistic. "At risk" of believing there is no loving God who really cares for them. Come and serve ice cream each Thursday at 2:00 P.M. or share in the movie night each Friday at 7:30 P.M. Volunteers and sponsors are welcome each week. For more information on the Front Porch log on to frontporchministry.org.
Dismas House - This transitional home offers programming and service for men who are beginning anew. The mission of Dismas is to facilitate the reconciliation of former prisoners to society, and society to former prisoners, through development of a supportive community. The Dismas House receives numerous volunteers from Belmont and Vanderbilt during the school year. Enlisting volunteers in the summer is one of the greater challenges. Come and serve dinner one evening at the Dismas House. For more information on Dismas House log on to dismas.org.
Mayor's First Day Festival - Each year, the Mayor celebrates the beginning of school with a festival. The Mayor's First Day Festival is on Sunday, August 8, from 2:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. The festivities are next door at the Bridgestone Arena. Building Bridges volunteers serve on street teams offering water and popsicles to children and families as they wait along Broadway. The opportunity is a great chance to partner with the city while encouraging the children and families of Nashville.
