On May 25, 2007, we were blessed with the birth of our daughter, Sarah Elizabeth. While at times it seemed like the clock moved in 3-hour increments based on how empty her belly was or how full her diaper was, time indeed did fly and after four months, it was time for me to go back to work. The thought of having to leave my child with strangers was heartbreaking. Before Sarah was born we had visited multiple child care centers and placed our names on several waiting lists. The First Baptist Child Development Center was far and away our first choice. Even though we were not FBC members, we were fortunate enough to get a spot. On Sarah's first day, I was in tears, but there was Mrs. Sandra ready to take my child. She assured me that she understood (being a mother herself), and promised me that Sarah would be well cared for.
She has been. Sarah has thrived at the CDC. Soon after Sarah started at the center, we began to receive encouragement from staff and other parents to visit First Baptist. We continued to visit the church and made friends with many members and their children through Sunday School, church events, and softball. We found a level of comfort and belonging that we had not found elsewhere. Now I am happy to say we are members and so very blessed to have such a wonderful and caring church home.
