Every so often, my three-year-old son makes a statement that amazes me. I am awed by how much insight he has to the world and what is truly meaningful.
After a bout of recent storms, Daniel mentioned that he was scared of the storm. I replied that while the storms had been scary, he was taken care of. His response: "Yes, Mommy. God took care of us." On other days, Daniel reminds me that God will make me better when I am sick or that God made the rainbows on rainy days. It is in moments like these that I say a silent prayer of thanks for the fact that our son is learning about all of the wonderful things that God does for us.
He has learned that he can talk to God and that God can respond through others, too. One day he asked when it would rain, and he heard the television weatherman say the forecast for the next day included rain. When it rained the next day, I said a special thank you to God.
My selfishness leads me to believe that David and I must be doing something right for these insights to occur. But my gut tells me that we are doing just what God has asked. Regardless we should be doing more and more every day. I also know I should thank each member of our church personally along with our other friends and family. Without each of you and your examples of what wonders God can do, my children would not be as close to knowing God as they are already.
