I am very excited to make several announcements in this issue of the Evangel regarding interim leadership for First Baptist Nashville. With the retirement of Minister of Music Mark Edwards later this year and other key ministry positions that have become vacant in recent months, we are thankful that the Lord has provided interim leadership that will be a blessing to us as we continue to Build Bridges from our steeple to the world.
Paul Clark, Worship and Music Specialist with the Tennessee Baptist Convention, has agreed to serve as our Interim Minister of Music giving leadership to Sunday morning worship and our Sanctuary Choir effective October 1. I have observed Paul for the past ten years as he has given leadership to our convention during special worship gatherings of the Tennessee Baptist Convention. He is an excellent musician, a sensitive worship leader, an experienced worship planner, and will help First Baptist Nashville during the search process in many ways. You will enjoy getting to know Paul Clark and I know you will make him feel welcome. By the way, now would be a great time to consider joining the Sanctuary Choir!
As SMART begins its third year this Sunday, our Chapel Choir will be under the leadership of Vicki Wright. Vicki currently serves as Organist for First Baptist Nashville. She has given leadership to the Music Makers II Choir for the past 20 years. Most of our Chapel Choir members know her and are aware that she can make Chapel Choir a fun and meaningful experience.
Brandon Owen has done an outstanding job as the Interim Minister to College Students for the past two years. His career schedule is now such that continuing in this role is not possible.
Linda Osborne, member of First Baptist Nashville and Collegiate Ministries Specialist at LifeWay, has agreed to serve in this role effective immediately. Linda has already made several connections with our “homegrown” college students this summer and will be a great help as the new semester welcomes students back to the local campuses in our city. Linda is married to John and they have two children, Julianna and Evan.
Finally, we welcome Tim Morrison to our interim leadership team to help us with Ministry to Adults. Tim will work with Single Adults and Young Married Adults on a part-time basis through December planning outreach and fellowship events, providing leadership through the Sunday School, and helping us connect with young adults in our city for Christ. Tim is married to Jenny and they have one daughter, Reese. They are living in Hendersonville until January, when Tim resumes his theological studies.
Onward!
