Can We Have Your Socks?
PUBLISHED IN THE EVANGEL // July 3, 2007by Susan Smith, FBC member & GA leader
This summer the GAs have plans to go the extra mile to help those around them. Our focus for the summer has been learning about issues relating to the homeless population and ways we can help. Rus Roach spoke to the girls the first week and Nancy Ryals led the girls on a prayer walk outside around the church. Last week the girls toured the new Freedom Recovery Community of The Next Door and spent time discussing the needs and praying for the women and children that will be served by that program.
During the months of June and July the girls are asking folks to donate new men’s athletic socks to be used in the church’s clothes closet. The girls will have an opportunity to deliver those socks one week while also working in the clothes closet. We will wrap up our activities by making placemats and writing notes of encouragement for the Room in the Inn program.
Not only are the girls learning how they can be missionaries in their community this summer, they are develop-ing a heart for serving others for Christ.
