More Than Books in the Library?
PUBLISHED IN THE EVANGEL // May 7, 2007by Jackie Anderson, media library director
Do you expect to just find Bibles, Bible study helps, missions books, biographies, light fiction and children’s books in our church’s library? You may be surprised to see a variety of materials covering many topics and designed for all ages.
A popular section contains a limited number of both religious and secular current periodicals. These titles may be read in the library or checked out for a brief time. Three of the most popular titles are:
Consumer Reports—A weekly journal providing current information and evaluation of a wide variety of tested prod-ucts and services to aid consumers in selection. Many charts, comparisons, and special features. The cover describes its contents as being “expert, independent, nonprofit.”
Baptists Today—A monthly newspaper containing current events related to Baptists. It serves churches by providing a reliable source of unrestricted news coverage, thoughtful analysis and inspiring features focusing on issues of impor-tance to Baptist Christians.
National Geographic—Provides historical and current information about places, people, and events. Noted for schol-arly research and colorful, high quality photographs.
