The Sandwich Generation

Thickly Layered, Thinly Sliced
Like a stretched rubber band, Darcy was close to the breaking point. The sheer magnitude of all she needed to do for her husband, teenage children, aging parents, employer, and home filled her with quiet desperation. As she drove her sons to the church, her mind was on her parents. With her dad in a nursing home and her mom developing memory problems, the uncertainty of their future kept Darcy off balance.
Darcy tried to be a good wife, mother, and daughter, but those roles kept colliding. Time spent caring for her parents was time she couldn’t help her kids with homework or spend with her husband. She constantly felt she had to sacrifice the needs of one generation for the other.
Darcy is part of the sandwich generation—people whose lives are layered with heavy responsibilities but sliced too thinly to give any family members adequate time and energy. If you can relate, join us on Saturday, March 10, for Living in the Sandwich Generation, a conference designed to provide the information you need to help you make wise choices for yourself and your family.
