“You have laid your hand upon me . . . For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb . . . All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be” (Psalm 139:5, 13, 16).
GOD. Yahweh. All-knowing. All-powerful. Creator of the universe. Lord of all.
LOVE
Me. Individual. One of billions. Sinful. Struggling. Child.
I simply cannot grasp the majesty and greatness of God. It is far beyond my understanding. The very fact that I cannot understand God highlights the gulf between His unlimited knowledge and power and my limited, world-based understanding of Him. All I can really understand is that everything that was, or is, or ever will be is created by God, and God is greater than all of it.
That same all-powerful God created me for one purpose . . . to love Him and be loved by Him. He loves me. Why? He doesn't need me. After all, HE IS GOD. But He loves me anyway.
He loves me so much that he sent His Son in human form to be born, to live, and to die. Though I can't fully grasp the majesty of God, I can relate to Jesus as a human. Therefore, I have an inkling of the depth of God's love for me. Jesus laid it out for us when He said, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13, KJV). In a way, that is a humanized definition of God's love that I can understand, even if I can't live up to it.
The all-knowing, all-powerful, Creator-God loves me enough to "knit me together" so he can love me, even in those times when I don't love Him. He created me. He knows me. He knows what I have done and what I will do. He loves me anyway.
The Creator of the Universe sent His Son to earth as a baby to live and die so I could be His. God made me one of a kind, specifically, uniquely, individually because He loves me and simply wants me to return the favor. WOW.
