“Blessed are the peacemakers, because they will be called the children of God.” Matthew 5:9
How can one promote peace and be a peacemaker if he knows no peace?
As a young girl, I knew no peace until I became a Christian. Jesus promised us peace, and I found that peace in Jesus. He loves us as no one else can love. My life took on new meaning and purpose. God had a plan for my life.
Because of inward peace, it is possible for me to have an outward attitude to live peacefully with all persons--at home, at work, in business. It's hard to find peace in a troubled world. People all around are edgy and pressured.
Most of us cannot have widespread influence, but we can make a difference.
When I was married and had a family at home, I felt responsible for keeping peace in my home. I was a peacemaker.
I love teaching little children and internationals. I can be a "channel of peace."
Christians are not immune to doubts and fears. I am not always peaceful. If something hap-pens to one of my children or grandchildren, I am not peaceful.
We have a rich inheritance as the children of God. Jesus commands us to be perfect, even as our Father in heaven is perfect (see Matt. 5:48). It is God's grace that makes peace possible.
Tune in to God's grace, and view your life as a journey to deeper faith and abiding peace.
Amidst the busyness of this holiday season--the tinsel and glittering lights, the happiness of being with family and friends--vow to be a peacemaker.
